What is Alarm.com Perimeter Guard for video devices

Stop intruders in their tracks with Perimeter Guard™ proactive defense. Perimeter Guard™ uses Alarm.com’s advanced Video Analytics to sound an alert and flash the camera’s status LED when unwanted visitors are detected.

Requirements

  • A service package that supports Video Analytics with Audio for Non-doorbell Cameras
  • One of the following compatible video devices:
    • ADC-V724/724X on firmware version 0.6.1.387+ (supports LED and Audio Alert)
    • ADC-V523/523X on firmware version 0.6.1.387+ (supports LED and Audio Alert)
    • ADC-V723/723X on firmware version 0.6.1.387+ (supports LED only)
    • ADC-VC727P (supports LED and Audio Alert)
    • ADC-VC827P (supports LED only)
    • ADC-VC847PF (supports LED only)
    • ADC-VC728PF (supports LED and Audio Alert on firmware version 0.6.3.601+)
    • ADC-VC838PF (supports LED only)
    • ADC-VDB770 on firmware version 02199+ (supports LED and Audio Alert)
  • A Video Analytics recording rule enabled on a compatible video device

Differentiate between people, animals, and vehicles. Perimeter Guard™ intelligently identifies when individuals linger in a specified location and responds accordingly.

Avoid false alarms

Avoid false alarms so a system does not annoy the neighbors with false alerts due to pets or passing pedestrians.

Once set up, the new feature is fully proactive – responding to visitors and potential intruders without further action from the customer.

To enable Perimeter Guard™ using the Customer Website:

  1. Log into the Customer Website.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Recording Rules.
  4. Click Edit Pencil on an existing Video Analytics rule, or create a new one.
  5. Verify the initial Video Analytics settings are configured as desired, and then click Next.
  6. In Perimeter Guard™ - Camera Light & Sound:
  • To enable the LED response:
    1. Click the Camera Status LED toggle to enable the LED response.
    2. Using the Duration dropdown menu, select how long the LED response lasts.
  • To enable the Camera Audio Alert (only available on cameras using the Two-Way Audio feature):
    1. Click the Camera Audio Alert toggle to enable the Audio Alert.
    2. Using the Audio Sound dropdown menu, select the type of sound the camera makes.
    3. Adjust the volume using the Volume slider.
  1. Using the Set Minimum Delay Between Alerts dropdown menu, select the desired amount of time the camera should not start a new alert after a previous alert has completed.
  2. Make any additional changes to the Video Analytics rule as desired.
  3. Click Save.

To enable Perimeter Guard™ using the Alarm.com app

  1. Log into the Alarm.com app.
  2. Tap Video.
  3. Tap Settings Gear.
  4. Tap Recording Rules.
  5. Tap Edit Pencil on an existing Video Analytics rule, or create a new one.
  6. Verify the initial Video Analytics settings are configured as desired, and then tap Next.
  7. In Perimeter Guard™ - Camera Light & Sound:
  • To enable the LED response:
    1. Tap the Camera Status LED toggle to enable the LED response.
