I have two V730 cameras. Can you please explain the video recording storage with Surety Complete? Do I have to get SD cards for my cameras? Thank you.

Also, where can I read up on how to set up motion detection on my cameras, chirping when motion is detected, etc?

Thanks for reaching out. Your V730s come with cloud-based video service as part of Surety Complete: clips triggered by motion or alarm events are automatically recorded and stored securely offsite, viewable through the Alarm.com app or website. That’s included as part of your plan and doesn’t require an SD card.

Separately, there’s a feature called Onboard Recording that gives continuous, 24/7 local recording stored on a microSD card in each camera, instead of just event-triggered clips. This is optional, not required. The V730 supports microSD cards up to 1.5TB. You could also get continuous recording through a Stream Video Recorder (SVR) instead, but with just two cameras, SD cards are typically the more affordable route.

So you don’t need to get SD cards unless you specifically want that continuous local recording in addition to your cloud clips.

Happy to help with both of those.

Setting up motion detection: Since your V730s use Video Analytics (person, animal, vehicle detection) rather than basic motion detection, here’s how to set it up:

  1. Log into the Alarm.com website or app
  2. Go to Video > Recording Rules
  3. Click Add Rule, then select Video Analytics
  4. Choose the camera, then choose Tripwire (for something crossing through view, like a driveway) or Ground Zone (for something lingering, like a porch)
  5. Set the scene as Indoor or Outdoor
  6. Draw your zone or tripwire, then set your schedule and choose who gets notified and for what type of clip (person, vehicle, animal, or other)

The audio chirp when motion is detected: That’s a feature called Perimeter Guard, and it’s built right into the same Video Analytics rule. Continue through the rule setup and you’ll reach a Perimeter Guard section where you can:

  • Enable the Camera Status LED (flashes when triggered)
  • Enable the Camera Audio Alert, choose the sound, and set the volume
  • Set a minimum delay so it doesn’t trigger repeatedly in quick succession

Hi. I was in the middle of creating a video about the V730 when I saw your post!

I just installed a new V730 at my house, and used that process to create a video about the v730 including its features and the overall installation. This includes recording rules using Video Analytics 2.0 and most of the various settings.
