Testing the firefighter

I have tested it with the tamper feature but tried testing with a smoke alarm test. Mine issues a sequence of 3 beeps, 3 beeps then voice in the test function. I’m told it would do 3 sets of 3 in a real smoke situation. I do not have a can of the testing stuff (fake smoke). Is there another way to test the firefighter with the actual beep sequence? My smoke alarms are One Link connected wireless with voice (First Alert).

What happens if you try to test by holding down the test button on your smoke detector for a full 30 seconds?

I just tried that. It still does the 3, 3, voice combo. I was reading other threads and it sounded like the Firefighter needs 3, 3, 3 for a full test.

Yes. You need three cadences if you use 24 hour fire, but if you program fire with verification you’ll need thirty seconds of sound. Either way, you’ll need to find a way to set them off since the test button won’t work.

This has already been discussed. Obtain a $10 aerosol can of test smoke for smoke detector devices.

Or try something that smokes/smolders, e.g., candle, incense stick, etc (this though may leave a residue inside chamber, or otherwise cause damage to it, do so at your own risk).

Perhaps the Suretydiy store will at some point in future offer aerosol detector test smoke.
