Sensor doesn't come back online without tampering

my zone 42 sensor has gone offline a couple times - on 6/30 and 7/15 - and did not come back online until I tampered it. I have had other sensors temporarily go offline but they always come back online on their own after varying time durations. what would cause a sensor to not come back online until being tampered? this particular one is a pg9945.

How far away from the main panel is it and what type of material is it mounted on?

did you try activating the sensor before tampering it to resolve the issue?

It’s a pg9945 with a 5150 wired to it. Mounted on a vinyl window frame about 60 ft from the panel. I didn’t try to activate it before tampering.

It is not uncommon for supervision errors to resolve manually when the device is tampered or the sensor tripped. Supervision signals are more easily affected by range or attenuation, given their frequency. You might try re-orienting that sensor horizontally rather than vertically, or temporarily lengthening the wire and moving it a little distance from there as a test.
