Persistent Low Battery Warning

Hi,

I have a Qolsys IQ Panel 4 which is reporting that both a IQMICRO sensor and DSC PG9945 PowerG sensor have a low battery. The former uses a CR1632 battery while the latter uses a CR123A battery. During replacement, I left the batteries out of the sensors for 20-30 seconds. After replacing the batteries with brand new ones, the panel continues to report a low battery state for both sensors.

I rebooted the panel - no change.

I removed and readded the PowerG sensor - no change.

I ran a sensor test from the panel and opened and closed the doors - no change.

I even used a voltmeter to confirm that the CR123A battery is reading ~3.2V.

What am I missing?

Is the low battery warning showing on the panel as well or is it only showing in Alarm.com?

If it’s still showing on the panel, can you try removing the battery from the sensors, waiting 2-3 minutes, then reinserting it? Some sensors need more than 20-30 seconds without the battery in order to clear properly.

The warning is showing in the Alarm.com app, the Alarm.com website, and on the IQ Panel. I left the batteries out of the IQMICRO for over 3 minutes. Same issue.

Do those sensors report any activity to the panel after the battery change?

Do you see open sensor events when you open the door?

If you tamper the sensor by removing the cover does the panel indicate a tamper?

Yes

Yes

Looking through your account I believe I see the issue. I am not actually seeing any current low battery reports in Alarm.com for any sensors on your alarm system.

However you do have two Z-wave locks which have a low battery status. These locks are named Front Door and Garage Door.

It looks like you may be referencing the sensors which have the same names instead.

Replace the batteries on those Z-wave door locks and allow about 60 seconds or so with the batteries removed from them. Does this resolve the status you are seeing?

Great catch! Not sure why I assumed it was the sensors as opposed to the locks. To avoid this from happening again in the future, I added the word “Lock” to the names of all the lock devices.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the false alarm
