The Take-245 takeover module gets wired into the metal box (most likely set up in your basement) and not at the existing panel itself. You will be looking for the old system’s wired control board to wire the Take-345 to. Be sure to place the Take-345 outside of the metal box and not in it, to ensure the best wireless signal possible. Here is our tutorial video for your review. Not only will this video show you how to properly wire the Take-345, but how to pair it with the new GC2 panel as well.
You can place your new 2GIG GC2 panel where your old keypad is (from the photos). You can even reuse the wiring from your old panel with your new panel’s power supply. Just be sure to follow those wires to the panel board where they are wired to the keypad power. Remove those wires and connect them to your new transformer to be plugged in nearby.
It could be in the attic. As the systems require service and maintenance, they would not (or at least should not) ever be walled off.
If you do not have a basement, a utility closet is common. Where is your electrical panel located? Commonly the control board will be placed nearby the main electrical panel.
I’m looking at my 2gig cp21 345 and the power supply doesnt come with a cable attached. im guessing i need to buy some cable and cut it and wire it, but i dont really know where to wire it into the back of the panel.
i thought it was just going to be a normal plug in interface
can i also jump this with the power from my current control panel or does it have to be from a 110v outlet?
i setup the takeover module, the old brinks control panel is showing trouble codes for all of the zones
Yep, it’ll do that. Remove keypads from the old panel. All the old panel board is used for in this case is power and battery backup for the TAKE-345 and any powered sensors.

Using 22 to 18 gauge cable, you would connect + and - 14Vdc terminals to the respective + and - terminals on the included plug in transformer. The 14Vdc power terminals are 1 and 2 on the terminal block.
You do not want to power it off of the old panel. Only use the old panel 12V aux power for the TAKE and wired powered sensors like motions.
its currently setup but i dont know if it has gone through or not. will i receive an email when the alarm.com setup is completed and my gocontrol is online?
After ordering service from suretyDIY? Yes, once your order has been processed you will receive a welcome email with log in instructions and next steps. Generally orders are processed within one full business day, but if you order service only it is often much faster than that (depending on how long it take our data entry team to confirm jurisdiction with local authorities, how late in the day the order is placed, etc.).
