Is it worth upgrading my 2GIG GC2 Panel?

The Second OTA update has been sent at this time. It will take your panel from 1.12 to 1.19.3.1 (current). This process can take up to 24 hours to complete.

During this time, your panel should not be powered down or reset, nor should programming mode be entered. Doing so can cause damage to the panel.

The panel will continue to function as normal during the process, save for a brief reboot at the end, signifying the process is complete.

You can confirm the update has finished locally by navigating to Security > Menu > Toolbox > Enter Master or Installer Code > Version.

If you have not done so, you can obtain a new 4G LTE module via the Subscriptions tab of your Surety account.

Once the panel has finished updating and you are ready, you can install the new module.

To do so,

  • Disarm the system
    • If you have 24/7 professional monitoring, you can put it on test mode via System Manager to avoid false dispatches.
  • Next, power down the panel,
    • power supply first, then the internal battery.
  • Remove the 3G module and replace with the 4G LTE module
    • Be sure to include both antenna, both can run out of the back of the panel.
    • Don’t let the antenna touch one another or any metal/wiring in the wall. This can cause signaling issues.
  • Power up the panel battery first then power supply

Once the new module is installed, you can tie it to your Alarm.com account. To do so:

  • Login to your Surety account
  • Click on System Manager
  • Enter the new module’s 15-digite IMEI number in the appropriate field
    • This number is located on the module and on the box it comes in.
  • Run a cell test when prompted.
