My IQ Pro is intermittently losing connection to one of my IQ Remote PowerG panels.
Is there a way to get a IQR-PG to reconnect without having to remove and add it to my alarm system? I’ve tried rebooting the panel and rebooting the remote, but it doesn’t reconnect without removing and adding.
This is annoying. Is there a way to prevent this? This has happened 2x now in the last month or so. While the response time to disarm the system is very slow, it had been stable before. I had hoped that connecting via PowerG would be more reliable than via WiFi, but it’s unclear that this is actually the case.
I’m starting to wonder if I should have gone with the HS2TCHPN wired keypads instead, but I’ve always liked the look and features of the Qolsys panels & remotes. However, rock-solid reliability & speed are far more important than bells & whistles (e.g., voice prompts).
If it looses connection, it should automatically reconnect when the panel sees it again.
How far are the keypads to the main IQ Pro panel? How far are the transformers providing power from the secondary keypads? Can you perform a signal test entering programming > Selecting Tests on the bottom > PowerG test > Test the keypads. What are the results you got?
I had the other panel connected via Power G get permanently disconnected this morning as well. The problem is that when they get disconnected they never reconnect. I rebooted both the IQ Pro and the remote, but it never reconnected. I let one panel sit for about 36hrs in a disconnected state before manually re-pairing it (first over WiFi and then over PowerG). The remote that I have on WiFi reconnects fine when it becomes disconnected.
I removed both remotes and re-paired them over PowerG. I did the PowerG test for both and they come up as Strong. I checked the PowerG RSSI and they both read -53dBm. The distance for one is super close. It’s essentially directly above the IQ Pro, one floor up. The other one is across the house, but that’s only 20-30ft if you had line of sight. There is a brick wall and a plaster wall in the way for that one. Until today, I hadn’t had any problems with that one.
I think this system has been installed for about 9 months.
Per Qolsys, the next troubleshooting step would be to delete one of the keypads from the panel using the IQ Installer app, then perform a master reset on the keypad before learning it back in. Then see if there is a difference in performance between both keypads.
