HS2LCDWF9 v1.51 compatible with HS3248

I have a mostly-wired system built around the Power Series Pro HS3248 control. I do need to add a 2nd partition for an ADU that will be all wireless. One of my keypads has an RF transceiver in it that I have been able to enroll some powerg sensors with. I recently purchased some new-old-stock HS2LCDWF9 keypads to put in the ADU that turned out to be v1.10 and they have not been able to enroll. After looking at the reference manual for the HS3248, it looks like all “keypads” must generally be v1.40 or later to be compatible. Only the HS2LCDWFPRO9 is specifically listed as completely compatible in the reference manual, but those seem to be hard to come by and very expensive. I’m wondering if the older HS2LCDWF9 would still work if v1.4 or later (I see some available that are v1.51)?

Does anybody have specific experience or an authoritative reference to know if this will work?

Any thoughts or suggestions are deeply appreciated!

Hello,

If you are using a DSC Neo Pro panel, you would need a DSC Neo Pro keypad for it to be compatible. In this case, you would need the HS2LCDWF9.

I did contact DSC to confirm this and was told the HS2LCDWF9 is not compatible.

Let us know if you have any additional questions

Thank you

Vidail,

Thanks for the quick and thorough reply. Just to help out anyone that comes along in the future with the same question - I want to report back that the information you were provided was either incomplete or incorrect. I did go ahead and acquire a couple of HS2LCDWF9 keypads that are labeled v1.51. Both were able to auto-enroll and be provisioned without issue and are now functioning as expected in the 2nd partition of my HS3248-based system.

I think, when it comes to these power series pro systems, even DSC doesn’t always know exactly what “works” and what doesn’t. Certainly, the “pro” branded version of the WF9 keypad would be guaranteed to work correctly, so that advice would always be best, if in doubt.

It could be that not all features will be available on the keypad. One example would be that I added a HS2TCHPN touchscreen keypad to a DSC Neo Pro and it learned in and was able to arm and disarm the system but the zone descriptions on the keypad wouldn’t show up as well as other small issues.
