How to setup RE120 repeater

I was wondering if I could get some help from the community on installing the RE120 repeater to my qolsys system. I recently purchased the repeater due to range issues with some of my sensors. However, I am not sure how to set it up. The instructions say that there is no need to “learn” the repeater into the Qolsys system which I find hard to believe. How do I know if the repeater is working? When I did try to auto learn the repeater, the panel recognized it as a window/door sensor. Any help on installation would be greatly appreciated.

The IQ Panel will default sensor type to door/window no matter what you learn in.

The repeater does not need to be learned in. It listens for 319Mhz GE RF signals and rebroadcasts. LED indicators on the repeater will flash when it hears and sends a signal.
