Compatible Z-Wave Motion Sensor

I am attempting to add a new Zooz ZSE18 Motion for my Closets and Bathroom to turn on the lights, using Automation. I researched and it states that Alarm.com and 2GIG support this motion, but when I add it to the Panel, Alarm.com tells me its not compatible see screenshot below.

Below is Feedback I got from Chat.

The Zooz ZSE18 Motion Sensor is listed by Alarm.com as a supported S2 device for the 2GIG EDGE.

However, because your panel reported it as “Incompatible Z-Wave Sensor,” one of the following is likely true:

  • Your 2GIG EDGE firmware needs updating.

  • Your Alarm.com backend has not yet enabled support for the newer ZSE18 hardware revision.

  • The device firmware is newer than what your panel currently recognizes.

Per alarm.com, the Zooz ZSE18 is only compatible with the Alarm.com hub but not when it is learned into a security panel.

If you are trying to control a Lutron light, your best option would be the Lutron Caseta Wireless Motion learned into the Caseta hub and the rules would be set through the Lutron app.

If you are trying to control a Z-Wave device, your best option would be a sensor learned in as group 23 for a non-alarm sensor/chime sensor.

I forgot to add, you can use a 2gig motion or door sensor to control the Lutron lights but there may be a long delay since the panel needs to send the sensor signal to alarm.com and then alarm.com sends the command to Lutron. This delay can be upwards to 45 seconds. Z-Wave devices would respond quickly since the automation would be done locally. This is why the Lutron Caseta motion would be best when trying to control Lutron lights.
