App not refreshing

I didn’t install it originally, so I am not sure there is any antenna in the wall. Perhaps that is the problem.

Open panel, and look.

I see what I take to be the antenna inside the panel (the black wire), but it does not go into the wall, rather into the side of the panel. It does not appear to be a ft long either. The only wire going into the wall is the AC power wire. Should I replace the antenna or do something with the present one? See photo.

That is the wrong antenna for a 3G cell (if you do not have a 3G cell, then you need to replace the cell module and antenna).

See pic posted above for antennas. You want the one on the left. Then remove the tab on the panel back plate marked “antenna” and run the antenna behind the panel in the wall.

How do I tell whether I have a 3g cell unit or not? I presume I can obtain the proper antenna and cell unit, if necessary, from SuretyCam.

I am extremely grateful for your time and help.

Jim

(power down panel) Pull out and Look at cellular module. If it is an ATT 2G it will say GSM 6, tmobile it will say GSM 2, if it is ATT 3G it will say GC3GA.

Also, not having screws holding it in is bad.

Thanks

From our end it looks like you have an AT&T 3G module.

Then that means, you need to put the proper antenna on it (doesn’t look as though Surety sells the antenna standalone).

Yep, I just verified that the code on the module does indeed match the ATT 3G code. It appears never to have been screwed in place. Interestingly, after removing and replacing the cell module, cell strength jumped to 12/31. Could the problem be as simple as a loose cell module connection? Regardless, I will obtains some little screws for it and secure the module. I will also replace the antenna as suggested.

The problem is you have the wrong antenna on the module. After you replace it, drop it down the wall, I bet your signal goes between 15-21
