I’ve seen the STZW402 Stelpro thermostat recommended for line voltage thermostat needs that can associate with ADC via Z-wave. However, I am having a very hard time finding one; presumably they are no longer in production. Is there an alternative out there?
There isn’t a direct Z-Wave line voltage alternative on Alarm.com’s supported list right now. The other Z-Wave thermostats on that list (2GIG, LUX, and Trane) are all 24V models.
The alternative is using a 24V Alarm.com compatible thermostat with a line voltage relay that has a built-in 24V transformer to switch the baseboard heat. The Aube RC840T-240 is one example, and it works with 2- and 3-wire thermostats. We haven’t tested this setup ourselves, so treat it as a DIY path rather than a supported configuration. Since it involves 240V wiring, we’d strongly recommend having an electrician handle the relay install.
What panel are you using? That’ll help us narrow down which thermostats will work with your system.
That is unfortunate. Don’t want to deal with a relay; too complicated. Thanks for responding.
Totally understand. If Alarm.com adds a new line voltage option down the road, we’ll be happy to help you get it set up.
I finally managed to get my hands on one, but this is an endangered species for sure.
