For years, customers have been asking to be able to use Alexa with zw shades- and to be able to automate shades based on sunrise/sunset. Are either of these features on the roadmap? I’ve waited patiently for a long time… Adding a secondary zw controller that can connect to Alexa is an option, but if I am going to take the time to set up a secondary controller, I may as well just cancel surety. Any insight here? It’s great that adc is spending development time photoshopping Santa onto cameras… but I think these features are more important

I believe the standard Alarm.com skill for Alexa is intended to control shades, based on example command documentation. Are you using the Smart Home Skill or the Alarm.com skill? The Smart Home skill is only lights and thermostats.
Regarding the sunset sunrise schedules, I agree, I have heard that request many times. Just last month I received confirmation that sunset sunrise for shades is going to be added as an option in the future, but they were not certain an ETA yet. So I know it is on the roadmap, we requested it to be prioritized.

I have tried both. Neither of the skills even import the devices to Alexa properly, but the alarm.com one is especially bad because you have to say “ask alarm.com to…” for every single command, you cannot build routines because the devices don’t come over… it’s really just archaic and messy.
As for the shades, I cannot get alarm.com to do anything with the shades. For example, I ask Alexa to open the living room south shade and it asks for my pin… which I respond with and then it says… “you do not have permission to open garage doors.”

Can you confirm the model of device you are using for your shade control? I am not seeing any manufacturer/model data availble in your equipment list for those shade nodes.
They are Bali Z-wave shades. In my panel they show up as “Springs Window Fashions.”

ADC confirmed that shades aren’t expected to work with Alexa at this time. I pointed out the reference in their docs that suggests otherwise for a fix.
At this time shades cannot be controlled in either Alexa skill. I also requested that support gets added.
